Award winning author Tom Palmer visits Year 8 Students
Posted on: 20/01/2025On Friday 17th January, Year 8 students were treated to a talk from award-winning author Tom Palmer. Tom talked about his journey from being a student who struggled with literacy at school to becoming the prolific writer he is today. His dyslexia-friendly books, especially designed to be more accessible for readers, often incorporate sport in stories about important moments in history, such as The Holocaust. Students also took part in a quiz, which resulted in a highly-competitive penalty shoot out!
Over lunch time, there was a book sale in the library where students could buy Tom's books and also get them signed.
The visit was a great success and hugely enjoyable for all involved. We are especially grateful to Tom, who drove from Leeds and back to be with us for the afternoon!
