School Street
School Street Scheme and Park & Stride
Supporting Safer Travel to School
St Birinus School is working in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council to encourage safer, healthier and more sustainable journeys to and from school.
As part of this initiative, a School Street scheme is planned for the roads surrounding the school. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and create a safer environment for pupils, staff and residents.
The School Street will be in operation from 2nd September during the start and end of the school day:
8:00-9:00am
2:30-3:30pm
Didcot Wave Park & Stride
Parents and carers who currently drive to school are encouraged to use the designated Park & Stride facility at the Didcot Wave Leisure Centre. From there, pupils can complete the remainder of their journey on foot, helping to reduce traffic around the school gates and promoting healthy travel habits.
Benefits of Park & Stride
- Reduces congestion around the school entrance.
- Improves safety for pupils walking and cycling.
- Helps improve local air quality.
- Encourages healthy, active lifestyles.
- Supports the school's Travel Plan and sustainability objectives.
