Didcot Sixth Form Students Celebrate Exceptional A Level Results

A-level Examination Results Summer 2024 – Didcot Sixth Form

Didcot Sixth Form, a partnership between Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School, is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its students in this summer’s A Level examinations. This year’s cohort has upheld our tradition of excellence, sustaining the consistently high standards achieved by Didcot Sixth Form students since the return of in-person exams following the pandemic. We are delighted that the grades awarded today reflect their dedication and will enable them to pursue their chosen next steps with confidence.

In summary, for the 202 students who completed their A level studies this year:

  • 10% of all entries gained A* grades
  • 30% of all entries gained A*-A grades
  • 62% of all entries gained A*-B grades
  • 98% of all entries gained A*-E grades

We are particularly pleased that:

  • 42 students (over a fifth of our cohort) have achieved an average grade of an A or A*
  • 86% of our 150 university applicants have secured a place at their preferred institution
  • 3 Didcot Sixth Form students are going on to study at Oxford or Cambridge
  • 3 Didcot Sixth Form students achieved a place at medical school
  • 75% of our cohort of 20 Year 12 early entry Mathematics achieved an A* this year (those who go on to study Further Maths in Year 13)

James Cross, Director of Didcot Sixth Form, said:

"We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students. They have been an outstanding group, showing determination, resilience, and a strong work ethic from the very beginning. What stands out most is the care and support they have shown for one another, as well as their leadership within our school community. They have made a positive and lasting impact, leaving a legacy of improvement and kindness. I have no doubt that each of our leavers is set for success in the diverse paths they have chosen to pursue."

Rachael Warwick, CEO of Ridgeway Education Trust, which includes Didcot Sixth Form, said:

“I am delighted for our students who have achieved much-deserved success in this summer’s examinations. We are extremely proud of them all and grateful for the generous and lasting contribution they have made to our school community. My sincere thanks and gratitude to the many staff who have supported our young people with such commitment and dedication over the last two years.
