Mr Manning's Thought for the Term: Diversity
Posted on: 13/01/2023The richness of life and our human experience stems from its diversity. The beauty of human difference, and the fact that we understand and recognise that each one of us is unique, is powerful and truly inspiring.
The dimensions and range of our societal diversity are immense – race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation. We embrace age, social class, physical ability and attributes, religious and ethical values, national origin, and, of course, political beliefs.
Our investment and reflection in diversity is energising and thought provoking, prompting us to evaluate our own isolated bubble, allowing us new perspectives on the world and into the lives of others.
When we understand the perspectives of others, we broaden our own. Not only do we become more aware, we also gain a sense of genuine pride for the diversity of our own culture.
This knowledge and awareness provides the key to inclusion and so a celebration of diversity supports our unity, harmony and community. Community is at the very heart of our three schools and our commitment, therefore, to equality and diversity is simply paramount.
