At the weekend, the St Birinus weightlifting team competed in the Virtual English Championships with very impressive results.

Corey Swaine competed in U23 age group with a bodyweight of 64.90kg lifting a very impressive snatch of 76 kg and a clean and jerk of 85 kg. This placed him in second position in his category, gaining a silver medal.

Harrison Deeley competed in U17 age group, also performed very well, earning himself a gold medal once more after successfully defending his title as English Champion. Harrison competed with a bodyweight of 72.70 kg, lifting 75 kg in the snatch and a whopping 105 kg clean and jerk.

Seb Lawton U17’s, competed with a bodyweight of 57.60 kg also defended his English title, winning gold with a snatch of 70 kg and clean and jerk of 85 kg.

All round a very impressive result from the team, particularly as they had to train at home during lockdown. We hope to see the team continue to win medals in future competitions.
