Year 11 enjoys a live screening of Macbeth
Posted on: 16/03/2020On Thursday 5 March our Year 11 students took part in a fantastic opportunity to watch a live screening of their GCSE Shakespeare text Macbeth through the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Schools’ Broadcasts.
Schools across the country watched the brilliant Christopher Eccleston and Niamh Cusack as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in a performance that ran in the Barbican.
The broadcast started with a live introduction from the RSC studio and included activities for students to help them engage with the production and get the most from the experience.
We have since used the performance to secure understanding as we revise Macbeth ahead of the summer exams. Overall, this was a fantastic way for students to experience theatre and as a Year 11 student stated after the performance: ‘that was so beneficial. We really enjoyed it and it has helped us so much with understanding Macbeth!’
