Another fantastic week of rugby for SBS!

First up for the Year 7 squad this week were Reading League fixtures against Prospect and Theale Green Schools. Tries from Sam McDermott, Jacob Lako and Captain Daniel Jones were enough to beat Prospect 15-10. Against a strong Theale Green team, SBS were held for long periods and with the game heading towards a stalemate, Jacob Lako scored a last-minute try to seal the win.
On Thursday the squad travelled to the South Oxfordshire 10 a side tournament at Wheatley Park School. Playing 5 teams, SBS recorded wins against Lord Williams 15-5, Wallingford 25-0, Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge 20-0 and Wheatley Park 5-0 and drew against Langtree to finish first in the tournament.

Year 8
Year 8 beat Highdown in the Reading League 30-10. SBS led at half time 20-5 after tries from Kai Wiblin, Henry Mabey, Jack Parsons and Jacob Marks. The second half saw SBS continue to threaten, with further tries by Lucas Dixey and Ryan Shephard.

Year 9
In their two fixtures, Year 9 were unlucky to go down 10-7 to Icknield School in a largely improved performance, Harry Levell with the try, against a team SBS had comfortably lost to earlier in the season. SBS then beat Oakbank School 36-10 maintaining their structure well against inexperienced opponents.

Year 11
Year 11 returned to winning ways this week firstly with a narrow win over local rivals Wallingford 10-7. Playing on a narrow pitch, the team carried the ball well to keep Wallingford largely on the back foot in the first half with tries from Charlie Walthall and Billy McDermott, before an interception try gave Wallingford hope after the break. But excellent defence, notably by wingers Felix Cotton and Oliver Brown prevented Wallingford from reaching the SBS line a second time. In their second game against Prospect School, tries from Jamie Staples, Callum Madley (2), Billy McDermott (2), and Finlay Harrison, as well as an outstanding individual try by Noah Foy, gave SBS a 43-0 victory.
